4 Peel Street, Adelaide (former location of Barbushka)
Open Tuesday-Friday from 2pm & Saturday-Sunday from 5pm
A gorgeous, trendy space that continues to transform Peel Street, Alfred’s Bar is fast becoming a bust summer favourite of the west end. The look of the venue has been transformed by the impressive team behind Pink Moon Saloon and BRKLYN. A venue that is locally-focused with South Australian wines and mostly-unknown spirits, the vibe that the owners have gone for is rooted in family and neighbourhood values.
21 Pulteney Street, Adelaide (formerly Mansions)
The Bunker Sports Bar & Grill has taken elements from its former self as Mansions, and applied what worked best for them. That is, pub grub at great prices and generous sizes. The east end bar is a great choice for a boys arvo, especially with the footy finals beginning.
29-31 Chesser Street, Adelaide
Open Monday-Saturday from 11am-10pm
A dapper new restaurant and basement bar, the Henry Austin enjoy a bit of a hipster vibe with high ceilings, dark wood and a gorgeously upcycled, reclaimed bar. True to South Australia, the wines, beers and produce have been mostly locally sourced and decided by the bar’s Facebook fans.
182b Hindley Street, Adelaide
Open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9pm-5am
Located at the former premises of the original Supermild Club, the Little Red Door launched in August of 2016. A club made for a slightly more grown up crowd, most who hit up this venue are 30+ and love their cocktails, with their take on the Espresso Martini Little Red Door’s signature drink.
192 Pirie Street, Adelaide (formerly Shotz)
Open Fridays & Saturdays from 9pm-5am
Bringing a new spin to the much loved Pirie Street venue, Minnesota Fats is all about billiards and bands, with live music hosted every Friday and Saturday nights and blues, roots, funk, soul and golden oldies played throughout the week. We warn you: the music is LOUD! Always has been, always will be.
Level 1, 128 Gouger Street, Adelaide (formerly The Loft Oyster & Wine Bar)
Open Wednesday-Friday from 12pm & Saturday-Sunday from 3pm
After a major renovation of the former Loft Oyster & Wine Bar, Mrs Q opened in September. While we’re sad to see that The Loft is no more (it frequented our Top 5 lists), its updates makes the venue a more suited space for a side of town that isn’t so heavily nightlife-focused. The restaurant creatively blends classic Asian dishes with a modern twist.
129 Melbourne Street, North Adelaide
Open Tuesday-Saturday from 12pm-late
Finally, we have an exciting new small bar on Melbourne Street! Spot & Co opened in December 2016, and word is slowly getting out about this North Adelaide newbie. The look is very hole-in-the-wall, Brooklyn-esque. The drinks menu has a variety of cocktails that add a creative spin to classic mixes, while the premium spirits available includes an extensive list of more than 20 whiskies.
17 Solomon Street, Adelaide
Open Wednesday-Saturday from 4pm-2am
On first look, we can’t decide if Sunny’s is a bar with pizza, or a pizza restaurant with a bar; but, we don’t really care considering one is just as good as the other! A short walk from Hindley Street, it’s a great first stop during your night out for a few sips and nibbles before moving on to one of the many surrounding bars or clubs.
Corner Grenfell & Frome Streets, Adelaide
Open Tuesday-Thursday from 4pm & Friday-Sunday from 11am
Superfish is the latest creation by the team behind some of Adelaide’s most iconic venues such as the Royal Croquet Club, Little Miss Mexico and Fat Controller. A lot of the venue is the same as its predecessors with a generous outdoor space, large bar, plenty of booths and chilled, feel-good attitude. The menu is (as expected) mostly seafood but there are a few non-fishy options, and while the cocktail menu is quite small, if you ask nicely they’ll go off the menu for you – they make a mean Mojito!
2 Peel Street, Adelaide
Open Tuesday-Friday from 4pm & Saturday-Sunday from 5pm
Peel Street’s newest venue that opened just last month, the first thing you need to know about Therapy is that they are serious about their cocktails! The drinks menu is extensive, inventive and created using the best of spirits. Opening just in time for the silly season in Adelaide, we strongly recommend you give this one a go before word gets out…
17 Semaphore Road, Semaphore
Open daily from 11am-11:45pm
A perfect mix of city vibrancy and laid-back beach life, Westside Massive is the home of Big Shed Brewing in Adelaide’s western suburbs. A refreshing take on the beach venue, this beer and bites bar opened just last month – perfect as the weather truly warms up! It is a true blokes venue consisting of the best brews Big Shed has to offer.
