Stocking locally made sweet treats, chocolates and produce, as well as a wide variety of gins and a totally South Australian beer and wine list, the Howling Owl is a gem for us Adelaideans. Ahead of the trend for small bars over the past couple of years, the Howling Owl was Adelaide’s first true gin bar – with a strong focus on mixes and cocktails, making it totally on trend right now. Also a cafe by day, sandwiches are made daily for a quick lunch and their grazing board or cheese board provides a more leisurely nibble with a glass of wine or a G&T.

Being located on Frome Street – just metres from North Terrace – you’ll find that the Howling Owl is often frequencted by day by uni students who are in between lectures (and struggle to head back to campus). A charming little bar for desserts and drinks, the Howling Owl is great for catching up with friends, whether it be for lunch, coffee or drinks.

The future of the Howling Owl is in doubt as they currently look for a new home, with their current premises that also consists of the Rhino Room and Urban Cow Studio to be knocked down to build “Adeladie’s tallest building” – an apartment block. A disgrace, right?
