Opening in September 2016, Mrs Q Asian Kitchen and Bar is the renovated and relaunched site of the former Loft Oyster & Wine Bar. While we’re sad to see that The Loft is no more (it frequented our Top 5 lists), Mrs Q is a suited space for a side of town that isn’t so heavily nightlife-focused. The decor is clean and modern, the venue is well suited for large groups and the balcony is (as always) a choice dining spot.

Mrs Q is not so much a bar as it is a restaurant, but still a fantastic destination for an after-work drink for those who work in this part of the CBD. Like its predecessor, the menu has a heavy focus on seafood and creatively blends classic eastern dishes with a modern twist – not quite Asian fusion, but perhaps instead sophisticated yet causal Oriental dining.

One thing this premises hasn’t lost is its extensive wine menu, covering several options for local and imported reds with fewer but still plenty of whites to choose from. A key difference between The Loft and Mrs Q is the shift to a focus on cocktails with an impressive list of spirits, most of which are premium. There is a short list of beers and ciders rounding out the 15 page drinks menu – but if a brew is what you’re looking for, we suggest you look elsewhere.

I heard about this place through a friend and unfortunately it was very quiet the Friday night we were there. The place is a cool space, but more people need to know about it before I’ll go back. Spread the word as it has great potential peeps.

Travelling up the large and what seems like never ending staircase you are not sure what to expect but once you open the large double doors, you’re met with a lavishly and tastefully decorated wine bar.

It has Certainly come far from the days when it was “Black Cat White Cat”!

If you are a wine lover this is the place for you! Their wine list is extremely extensive and the staff seem to be very knowledgeable about the product available. Fantastic place for a drink with your close friends, perfect for after work drinks on a Friday. I would highly recommend it!

Great place for us girls to get away and have a quiet drink with friends without being hit on. The space is quite big, however with fire place and high back chairs it doesn’t feel empty, but more intimate and classy. When we go there we always have the Espresso Martini’s – YUM!!!

Awesome new wine bar in Adelaide. Exciting wine list and delicious cocktails.
